The Keep

Our Mission

The Keep

Designed with sustainability in mind, the campground will be a juxtaposition of nature and green technology; a thoroughly modern medieval village.

The Keep will be our 2 story,10,000+ sq ft. great hall/ community hub.

  • The Keep will be our 2 story,10,000+ sq ft. great hall/ community hub. Built from shipping containers, it will withstand any kind of weather.

  • The main floor will feature an inviting rock fireplace and a large open center space with long wooden tables for feasts, table games, and all manners of revelry.

  • Along one side are restrooms and the ‘Epiphanies Café’, open for coffee and pastries at sunrise every morning. The industrial sized kitchen will be available for use in catering your event or feasts.

  • The opposite wall will feature a Garb Shoppe, General Store, and Foam-Smythe that will offer supplies for every level of LARPer. We also plan on constructing a stage in one corner for live music, demonstrations, award presentations, and much more.

The Keep is designed with one very large entrance door, and two rear exits, to ensure maximum traffic flow. A laundry room and additional restrooms will be accessible from outside the keep.

The upstairs will hold (2) 12 person Bunkhouses and showers, an operations center, care-takers quarters, and a staff lounge. Two of the corner containers will hold staircases, one will hold a large freight elevator, and the fourth will be used as a water tower for a rainwater catchment and filtration system .

Outdoor Amenitites

Next to the Keep we are working towards building a large and lovely winding path for a merchant’s area, with plenty of space and electricity for our talented friends and crafters.

The Fighting Field will be a massive 20 acres and will be planted in hearty grasses that will stand up to the wear and tear of countless battles. We are considering a variety of grasses that may also be grown for use as feed, or hay bales during muddier times.

The entire property will utilize plants for a variety of uses such as natural pest control, water drainage, food production, and pollinators.

A ten acre parking lot just right of the entrance will allow for nature immersion as we will have no cars parking in the camping areas. Roads through the campground will be a one-way loop so campers may drop off gear before parking. The campsites will be spread over roughly 65 acres in total.

Designed for groups they will feature multiple tent sites around a central camp-fire pit and picnic table.  Several pavilions will be located throughout the trees, as will additional restroom sites. To accommodate year-round staff, the northern part of the acreage will host a working farm, which will also provide a petting zoo for the youth camps.

Seasonality & Outreach

Our vision is to add to the LARP event season by taking advantage of our beautiful North Carolina weather in the early spring (February, March, April, and May) and late autumn (October & November), with total availability of (8) one week long, and (8) long weekend events.   Otherwise, the campground will be open year-round to individual camping and regional events on weekends.

During the summertime, Nezzie Foundation will sponsor our twist on summer camps, dubbed “Quests Camps”, from Sunday evenings to Thursday afternoons. We will develop relationships with local organizations who work with special needs children, as well as other organizations to provide camp packages for at-risk or disadvantaged teens.

We will harness the many clinical applications of role play in therapy settings and design a program featuring live action D&D style quests. Campers will get an opportunity to choose a character, dress up in garb, go on scavenger hunts, craft with nature items, defend their fellow travelers, and problem solve while acting out a fantasy story.

Their program will also feature an opening night bonfire celebration and a closing night awards ceremonies.
